What You Should Know Before Moving To Plantation Florida

Are you moving to Plantation, Florida, but aren’t sure what it’s like to live here? In this episode of Hearty Home, I’m going to share all the things you need to know before packing your bags and moving to Plantation. We’ll look at everything from location to weather, so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive.

All About Location

Life here in Plantation is probably a little different than where you're from. Many people simply don’t know what to expect. The first thing you need to know about this area is its location.

Plantation is the most central city in Broward County. We’re directly west of Fort Lauderdale and about 20 minutes north of Miami. It will also take you about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the airport. The best part is that we're about 5 to 10 minutes from all the major highways like 595, 95, and 75—along with the turnpike.

Trash Collection And Traffic

One thing you should know is that you're going to have to pack your patience when it comes to trash collection. Plantation doesn't use garbage bins; we use the not-so-awesome blue bags. This is a very hot topic for Plantationites.

Another part of Plantation life is traffic. Unfortunately, we do have it. More and more people are moving to Plantation, so traffic is denser around 595 and University. This is because we've got a mall there, along with dining and entertainment venues in the area.

We also have a few construction projects that are going to add to the traffic, with Plantation Walk being one of them. There are also apartment complexes being built. That, too, will bring more residents and people to Plantation.

Pools, Activities, And Amenities

Should you buy a home with a pool? While it might be your personal preference, it does get hot here in the summer. So, if you have a full day of outdoor activities or yard work, it sure is refreshing to just jump in the pool. You can always add a heater as well. This will allow you to swim year-round. And let's face it: pools are just great to look at.

In addition to residents’ own poolside activities, Plantation has a lot to offer. One of the places that I really like hanging out with my family is Riverside Market. It's laid-back, chill, and the kids can have fun too. As Plantationites, we also love our parks. We take great care of all of our 42 parks with plenty to offer, like pavilions, splash pads, tennis courts, and basketball courts. We also have 4 golf courses for plenty of chances to hit the course.

Our wide variety of amenities means you really don't need to leave Plantation for anything. We've got medical offices, hospitals, shopping centers, movie theaters, and more. This family-friendly community does a great job of providing different events throughout the year for families to enjoy—including food trucks in various parks and outdoor movies in the Fall.
